One of my husband Alaric's dearest friends, Benjamin passed away a couple of days ago. He was only 24 and it came as a great shock to us. We have been going through some intense emotions in the last couple of days. He was a very talented artist with incredible style and a wonderful friend and will be greatly missed.

ReplyDeleteLisa, I've been telling you this over the past few days, but thank you so much for inviting people into your home in this time when we're all mourning. I really appreciate the chance to be around everyone going through the same thing, and I think it's really healing for everyone. I'll see you again on Sunday or sooner!

ReplyDeleteLisa, of course only now 6 months later do I find this beautiful post. I want to thank you and Alaric for being such wonderful friends to Ben and I over the years. I still remember Alaric bringing you to Ben and I's house on your first date and Ben said to me later, "Alaric seems really smitten...". I remember his exact words because he chose the word "smitten".
ReplyDeleteIn the week after Ben passed I don't remember much but I do remember coming to your house with his sister. Both of us were so dazed and lost, looking for some comfort, whatever the form and coming over to your house just seemed right. Of course I can't remember most of it, but I do recall feeling safe and happy that I was with people I knew actually cared for Ben. So I just wanted to thank you again, for being a true friend to the man I love, and for being a real source of comfort to me.
I had heard about your sister early last month from Joy but I remembered how dazed I was after Ben passed so I thought I would hold off on the phone call until you had had some time. But please know that although I don't know what its like to lose a sister, I do know the shock of losing someone suddenly and if you need anything at all, please let me know. Hopefully I can return some of the kindness you showed me in my time of sadness.
