Cupcake Day

Today I made chocolate cupcakes. The recipe for them can be found here. I've only recently found the recipe but have already made them quite a few times. They are that good, plus they are vegan! We brought them to a family event and they were a hit. Weekends go by too fast. How did you all spend yours?

Fluorescent Grey

I've been finding similar pieces while thrifting to ones I own already. This scarf in perfect condition is very similar to a scarf I own but a different material. This skirt is also similar to another pleated skirt I own. Both these new additions to my closet were found on my birthday at the granny thrift store. I've been finding so many black skirts lately and I can't complain. Getting really excited not only for Bea's grandmother coming to visit but our second honeymoon is next month as well! We are going "beer tasting" in Mendocino. Beatrix  is very healthy but her nose is still quite stuffed up from her cold, poor dear.

It's too big and I've got mud on my boots

I wanted to add the disclaimer after all the hype first but it is a  reversible jacket. It is oversized so I have to wear it with skinny jeans. I really need a new pair of skinny jeans as I favor a dark wash and all the knees on mine are faded. I wish I thought that looked good. Today I was just lounging around the house so I tried pairing it with leggings.  So here it is. There is no label and I'm not really sure the year but I really love wearing it. It is so soft and the colors make me feel happy.

Red Lipstick

Not only do I like this song I think she has pretty great style as well. Bea is a fan of St. Vincent too.  Today I finally bought some red lipstick as I adore the look but have been out of it for a couple of years. It was quite a rainy day today, not very good for outfit posts. I can't wait to post some of the finds I found on my birthday. One of them was a crazy bomber jacket that I wore today and it was funny to see some of the looks I got.

In the Mood for Love

I had such an awesome birthday today. We decided to go to an estate sale today but never actually made it because we found this wonderful little granny thrift store in the suburbs and stayed too long. That is where I got this necklace that matches my outfit perfectly for $4. We also went to a kids' secondhand shop and that is where Bea got her outfit for the shoot. Still haven't had dinner yet but it is from my favorite takeout joint and Alaric got a peanut butter chocolate pie and coconut ice cream for dessert. Sounds like an interesting combo. I adore cheong sams and wish I could  wear them every day like in my favorite movie by Wong Kar-Wai, In the Mood for Love. It is such a gorgeous movie although a bit sad.

Deja vu

I took this photo sort of as an afterthought right before I went to a birthday party. Please excuse the wrinkles on my skirt. I wore a very similar out fit recently but the effect was quite different. Alaric's photo was taken last month. When his hair was blond it used to pic up light quite a bit but the outfit includes one of my favorite shirts of his. Today I was quite busy with a take home test. Thank you so much for your lovely comments.

She picked it herself

Bea picked that dress out last week at the thrift store and it looks amazing on her. Can't wait to watch men's figure skating tonight. I thought Johny Weir was scored a bit too low last time. He has such panache!

Psychedelic

I found this dress for next to nothing and it is quite an amazing vintage find. I don't wear it too much but I thought I would dress up today to cheer myself up while I'm sick. Marie of Lemondrop Vintage has a fab giveaway on her blog. All you have to do is leave a comment at lemondrop giveaway for a chance to win a charm bracelet for the Chinese new year. I am planning my first giveaway when I get 50 followers. I got the idea from Jessica of wardrobes and whimsy. I'm getting there.

Alaric's amazing new shoes

Ok my shoes are pretty rad but Alaric finally got his custom made animal collective cover keds and they look amazing. Both of us are sick today I just hope Bea doesn't catch it. Hopefully my outfit is ok as I'm pretty delirious. We had so much fun watching figure skating last night.

Busy Day

Today we had a ton of errands to do but first we stopped by a thrift store that was having a huge sale. We found so much for so little. Pretty much everything I got was $1! Beatrix picked out this cute dress today and wanted to wear it right away. Can't wait to watch ice skating tonight.  I forgot to mention how I found Bea's valentine dress posted yesterday right before she came into town. It was perfect timing.

Happy Day

Today my family is coming back! I'm so excited. I felt like dressing up today and the weather is just delightful. The dress I got secondhand on e-bay and I was quite disappointed as it was frayed and not an actual anthropology dress as the listing stated. It is still pretty cute. Thank you so much to my new followers and for comments!

Sock Obsession

I am trying out a trendy look from Japan with my new socks in the first scrunched look. At first I thought this trend was kind of ugly but now I  think it can look cute if done right. I have a hard time deciding how to wear these socks. They are thicker than my other over the knee socks so seem to be made to scrunch. The shoes I got in Paris a long time ago when I was visiting a friend and my bag got stolen on the train. I am going to be sad when it is summer as I love socks and tights so much.

Missing Beatrix

I haven't seen lil Bea in almost a week so I decided to console myself with some pictures from last summer.
All outfits are secondhand, thrifted or vintage. The third one is a professional photo by Jonathan Trousseau.
