Picnic Dress

Last weekend was so much fun. On Sunday we all went to a special event at our favorite winery, Cantiga. They were pouring their library wines.  It was such a beautiful day and they even had a bounce house set up for the children. Beatrix had quite a few cups of pinot noir grape juice and amazingly didn't spill a drop.

skirt: vintage
shoes and shirt: thrifted

dress and shoes: thrifted
I couldn't resist sort of matching our outfits. I love this sundress. The pattern makes me want to have a picnic every time I wear it. I found it last month thrifting at a nearby store.  I am pretty much done with school for the summer. I still have to show up for a couple of weeks but all my papers and presentations are done and the finals are optional.
Today I went on a thrift store mission to find 4 gifts for family members and scored so hard. I found an authentic gunne sax dress for $3 and a vintage bead clutch for $5! I'm going to post some pics of the gifts I think. Bea also got pink sandals and a backpack (like Dora) that she's has been wanting. It was incredible because she just lost one of her pink sandals yesterday and to find an immediate replacement at a thrift store is pretty unheard of.
We are going to finish watching the film, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with Jack Nicholson tonight Has anyone seen this? I really like it so far. Also the feature on Veronika should be tomorrow and it is fantastic. I love conducting interviews and will definitely do more beyond the contest.

  1. That looks like a lovely day! And I really like the way you & Bea kind of match. Last week I was working in the back of the shop on one of Kara's days...I. heard this couple talking while they shopped and I thought it might be you and your hubby, but no. Hopefully you'll have time to come by sometime soon (we may do a sale for mothers day? It'll be on the shop blog). In any case, make sure to enter the giveaway on my blog. Take care.

  8. You both look great. Bea is just so cute. Don't worry about spelling my name wrong. It happens all of the time. My dad just had to pick a slightly unusual spelling:)

  11. Aaaaah I love Bea's outfit so much! And yours too darling. I have a major thing for red gingham (I think the lengthiest blog I ever posted was about gingham: http://violetfolklore.com/2009/03/the-goodness-of-gingham/).

So what did you think of the film? I loved the book so much that when I watched the movie it turned me off forever to the practice of watching films if I've already read and loved the book. It just changes it too much in my mind, ya know?

  14. Oh my goodness. Your mother-daughter matching is beyond adorable. I keep telling my boyfriend about how cute your family is and I think I'm starting to freak him out, hahaha! That dress is such a lovely find! And Bea looks so precious in that jumper and gingham! I went thrifting yesterday without much success. I went to four stores and found a pricey (albeit cute) blouse. ($10) The powers of thrift are so fickle!
