Scorcher

Today is all about the clothes. I feel like it has been forever since I've done a proper outfit post. I think peach tones are my new summer power color. We had fun taking the pictures today. Unfortunately the majority of the silly ones didn't turn out but they were a lot of fun to shoot. Today was rather boring as I had to go to a conference at my new college for transfer students. I took the most hideous photo for my student ID. I'd been relatively lucky in that department until now.
shorts: crimson and clover, shirt: thrifted, shoes: gift
I do realize I've been wearing these shorts quite a bit they are so versatile. They were definitely worth the $8.

The necklace was from a free grab bag of mostly vintage goodness I scored a couple of weeks ago.

 100 percent thrifted outfit

This fall one of my electives is going to be photography. I am very excited that I got in as it is a very popular class. I really want to do photo shoots for other people when I get a little better.

Interplanetary

This weekend was phenomenal despite the fact that I was in rather excruciating pain, at least on Monday. I had a pain in the neck and even 800 mg ibuprofen wasn't cutting it. There was a huge sale at thrift town on Sunday and we were extremely successful. There is one particular orange vintage dress I am rather excited about. Last night I drank a bit of Finlaggan to dull the pain and sure enough today the pain is a bit more tolerable.  I would recommend it if you are a snobby Scotch drinker on a budget. They actually get their whiskey from the excess production of two of Islay's best distilleries (Lagavulin and Caol Ila).

shorts: old urban outfitters, shoes: crimson and clover, shirt: vintage
I am finally posting one of my recent acquisitions, this lovely purple butterfly blouse. I got this, among other amazingness, Saturday night when I got a huge free bag of clothes from someone whose rejects were actually better than some of the stuff in my closet. I ended up changing the shorts later as they are so annoyingly bunchy.
I took Bea to our favorite park today and we had such a great time. Much of the time we were just blowing bubbles although we did make a sand castle which she took much delight in destroying. I just love watching her play. She is such a daredevil but also cautious, thank goodness.
chucks: goodwill, top: thrift town, shorts: secondhand
This photo is from our daily walk. I got this adorable gingham shirt with daisies at the thrift town sale last weekend. "5, 6, pick up sticks!"

shorts: crimson and clover
I wanted to take a pic of Bea's awesome interplanetary leggings before she went to bed and she was such an amazing model (probably because she knew  that once the shoot was over it was bedtime.) I have the best little girl!

The Fabulous Five

Each month I feature five amazing thrifted or vintage outfits from other style blogs. Here are my May picks.
1. Susie of Love Ship. I absolutely fell in love with this dress when I saw it via calivintage and had to put it in this month's edition. I am pretty much obsessed with lace anything right now and this dress is the epitome of what makes lace so desirable. Her blog also happens to be full of amazing, jaw-dropping pieces and the way she puts together outfits is nothing short of incredible. This dress was thrifted for $5!  I am all about amazing steals. It is what makes thrifting so exciting, the thrill of the chase so to speak. I also love how she paired it with black socks and t-straps.
2.Mitzi of Night Lights. I've known of Mitzi's style via chictopia soon after I started blogging and was so happy when she started her own blog. Her dark hair and pale skin give a dramatic backdrop to her stunning vintage styles. She has such a distinctive style and looks she makes the vintage look so current which is my preference. When I saw her rock these vintage trousers I was so taken with this particular outfit.  I am so into trousers right now and I love how she pairs it with white tights and that lovely hat.

3. Katy of Kansas Couture.Okay, here we have at least two of my obsessions du jour: high waisted shorts and lace. I'm also partial to blazers and her shoes are indisputably incredible. I was vaguely aware of her blog's existence but recently discovered this outfit via weardrobe. This outfit is 100% thrifted. I am such a fan of that (obviously).
4. Tranish  of Tranish. I found her blog via weardrobe when she was rocking an amazing afro wig. Although I was slightly disappointed that was not her actual hair I was so glad to find her lovely blog. I love this take on the nautical theme. The vintage jumper is incredible. Her blog contains more of her unique take on fashion.
 5. Simone of Shoeless Simone. Her blog is my most recent find via chictopia and it is definitely worth a look. The photography is stunning. She also finds some amazing vintage pieces including this gorgeous turquoise cut-out dress.

Lazy Daze

Beatrix wanted to walk part of the way to the park today by herself.
The necklace I'm wearing was a gift from my mom on Mother's Day. It was handmade in Kenya. I happened to be wearing these shorts when I got it too and I think they go together quite nicely. I really am into highwaisted everything. It is funny because I remember not being a fan when I was younger. I found a new photo locale as the camera propped up quite nicely on the play gym.
shorts and top: Crimson and Cover Vintage
sandals: Cheap Thrills Secondhand
she picked it herself
dress: vintage
sandals, leggings and hat: secondhand

We had a lovely afternoon at the park. The weather was so warm today and it was really nice to be outside. Has anyone heard the new National album, High Violet? I just heard it and was quite taken with it. Boxer is one of my all time favorites.
