Get Your Vote On

dress, shoes and belt: thrifted

dress and shoes: do i need to say it anymore...thrifted

entirely thrifted outfit

Today I opted for my khaki safari dress. Light colors are so summery and reflective.
Today was primary day in California. I am always so excited to vote. A democratic voting system only works if the majority of the population vote and at least in my country, we are often way below the mark. Local elections are extremely important as they affect your city directly. That being said, when I was younger I didn't vote but I feel it is so important for young people to vote. But do your research. Voting is a way to change history which is very exciting to me.  I'm giving this pep talk to myself as much as my readers because, truth be told, I almost forgot to vote today. I was meaning to from the get-go but this month has being going by at lightning speed. Later I slipped into my comfy black dress but accessorized to for a trip to the store to get some pbr to celebrate my husband being done with his classes tonight. A 12-pack of pbr is a very good investment as they are union made (I always feel better when I know people are getting paid a decent wage- It makes me very happy). What this means that he no longer has 4 hours of homework every night and we can have even more fun, which is an extremely good thing always.

Earth Science

I am so inspired by Beatrix's outfit. It is mismatched perfection that she picked out herself.
chucks: goodwill
skirt and shirt: secondhand
I can't stop wearing this dress. It is so comfortable. In the morning I paired it with another pair of red tights. I've been wearing red tights so much this year and the color red in general. This is the only pic that you can kind of see a little bow that is part of the dress.
I felt I'd been wearing too much red so I changed into these later. I feel like it makes the outfit less plain. Not that there is anything wrong with simplicity.
dress: thrifted
boots:vintage
On our daily walk Beatrix was thrilled to see the moon during daylight hours.

I have seen so many other blogs that use the big pics but I'm not sure if I like it as you can't see the whole outfit on the screen at once. Any input would be appreciated.

Never stop fighting

To be nobody but yourself in a world that's doing its best to make you somebody else, is to fight the hardest battle you are ever going to fight. Never stop fighting. ee cummings
Today I cut another black dress. This time it didn't turn out too short.
Dress: h&m thrifted
poncho: thrifted
boots: vintage gift
Bea's shirt: thrifted
This photo of Alaric was from last weekend.
shirt:vintage thrifted

Bea loves going shopping.
Yesterday I wore my new thrifted shirt and Alaric his new rainbow jacket.

I'm in love with the new caribou album. My semester is over in one month and Alaric is in two. I can't wait for lazy summer days!

My family left me

This morning my daughter and husband left on a road trip to Montana to attend a family funeral. They will be gone for nearly a week. It sounds strange but I am actually excited to have alone time. this is something one takes for granted usually. I'm going to miss them though but what a great bonding experience they will get to have. I'm so lucky to have such a wonderful little family.
So I did a very brave thing today and cut one of my favorite dresses hems. At first I was a little freaked out but when I paired it with tulle I thought it looked pretty cool and then ended up just wearing flats which I tend to feel more comfortable in with short hemlines. I bought the necklace at Crimson and Clover Vintage and the tights are from Sock Dreams. Sock Dreams has an amazing line of organic socks made in the States.  The dress was purchased awhile ago at Crossroads.

Out on the Town

Dress probably from the 1980's and shoes are Kenneth Cole. This was our big date night so we did it up.

Alaric's outfit is totally vintage 1970's except for the blazer which is thrifted and the shoes are Gordon Rush. Unfortunately he got hit by a bike when he was wearing these pants and they have a small rip on the leg, however they are still rad.
