New Vintage Shoes

Last night was a date night to celebrate Alaric being done with his classes. We decided to walk to the destination. When we passed by The Church of the Immaculate Conception I thought it would be a good spot to take pictures.
dress: crimson & clover
I've posted this dress before but I just can't stop wearing it. It is definitely one of my favorite pieces. When I'm going out and completely out of ideas and everything I try on is blah I put this dress on and feel instantly put together.
everything thrifted at various shops
Alaric's blazer was only 50 cents. Party in da club.
I was sure these pictures turned out ok but I probably should have used flash in retrospect. I decided to make them a little smaller to negate the  blurred out and flash bombed look.

I decided to be adventurous and bring the tripod for a change of scenery. I wore this blouse to match the shine and color of my new vintage shoes which I'm quite taken with.
These vintage flats were only $2.

Bea totally wore herself out at the park today playing with her friends. She's had quite an exciting couple of days including a sleepover with her cousin. She is turning out to be so gregarious, always talking about her little friends. She even has a "happy dance" which I have yet to capture on video.

Fortunate

The weekend started as a smashing success of chocolate chip pancake goodness.
Bea wore her adorable floral romper (found at thrift town) to the park.
I am so behind on outfit posts and have a ton of new stuff to share. However today I wanted to wear some tried and true pieces from my closet.
dress and shoes: crimson & clover, hat: thrifted
Alaric snagged this amazing bag at the Bows and Arrows sale last week.
It was so nice to read my book. Alaric enjoyed doing his homework al fresco for a change.

Bea finally graduated to a real bed. We still have to set up the frame but it was a most momentous occasion.
The weekend has been incredible so far and tomorrow is another adventure. I think we are going to go thrifting. I am planning on launching an Etsy store this summer, mainly to give me an excuse for frequent vintage searching. Tonight one of Alaric's friends, who is leaving town, gave me a ton of gorgeous vintage clothing in my size and Alaric got a ton of records. I can't wait to post all the finds!

Come up to Kool

 dress: secondhand
shoes: thrifted
I scored this gorgeous blouse last weekend at Crimson & Clover Vintage Shop and am love with the print and lace trim. Lace makes everything better.

 jeans: uo from forever ago
shoes: c&c
tee: C & C

How was everyone's Mother's Day? I had a really relaxing day. Alaric made me pancakes for breakfast and later we went to my mom's house for dinner. Today was my last day of school before summer break and consequently I am quite excited!

Mustard Flowers Everywhere

For fun I thought I would show you the three different ways I styled my outfit today. The first way was the most simple because I threw it on before going to class. This is my default skirt when I don't know what to wear. I love it so much.

skirt: UO from Crimson & Clover
shoes and shirt: thrifted
When I got home I wanted to dress it up a little bit with some different shoes and a belt.

Later I took Aggy and Bea on a long walk to the park so I had to wear some more comfortable shoes.
Here is a picture of the vintage purse I recently thrifted and gave to my sister-in-law. It was so hard to part with.
I'm going to post the gunne sax dress I'm giving to my niece soon but I have to wait to give it to her so she can model it. I will be posting the next set of photos for the competition tomorrow!
Fyi there is a lovely giveaway at Flaming Hag Folkwear if you'd like to check it out.

Earth Science

I am so inspired by Beatrix's outfit. It is mismatched perfection that she picked out herself.
chucks: goodwill
skirt and shirt: secondhand
I can't stop wearing this dress. It is so comfortable. In the morning I paired it with another pair of red tights. I've been wearing red tights so much this year and the color red in general. This is the only pic that you can kind of see a little bow that is part of the dress.
I felt I'd been wearing too much red so I changed into these later. I feel like it makes the outfit less plain. Not that there is anything wrong with simplicity.
dress: thrifted
boots:vintage
On our daily walk Beatrix was thrilled to see the moon during daylight hours.

I have seen so many other blogs that use the big pics but I'm not sure if I like it as you can't see the whole outfit on the screen at once. Any input would be appreciated.

A Walk in the Park

Today was one of those perfectly gorgeous days and Alaric was at Stanford all day for a symposium on evolutionary genomics, so I took Agnes and Beatrix to the park.
I loved how the lighting turned out in the photos.
Beatrix's  dress is secondhand of course.

We walked home along a magnificent tree-lined avenue.
I got to catch up on reading Infinite Jest while Bea played today.
dress- Thrift Town
sandals- cheap thrills vintage
necklace-thrifted
Later we made chocolate cupcakes and watched Monsters, Inc.

April Madness

I've had so many outfit posts that I wanted to do but didn't have time. I finally got some photos today. I broke my camera that I had just fixed but luckily I have a spare one I forgot about.  I don't like it as much but it will do in a pinch. I'm looking into getting a better camera. Does anyone have any suggestions for a good model? I will most likely get a used one.

This morning was a bit crazy. I was planning on going thrifting with my sister but couldn't get out of the door right away as the power went out and then Beatrix just fell asleep super early. My poor husband is taking a crazy class this quarter that requires at least 4 hours of homework per day so I'm juggling a little more then usual.

This is the debut of the trousers I found on the dollar rack while on vacation.  I haven't gone thrifting since our vacation a month ago! The shirt was found in a giveaway bag on a neighbor's lawn. It was a very stylish neighbor who owns a vintage store who couldn't take all her stuff when she moved to New York. I've had those shoes forever.

The necklaces are from various thrift and vintage shops.

The one good thing that came about from smashing my camera is  I found some really cool photos from April of last year. This was our first hike with Beatrix to Feather Falls.
This is one happy puppy. Agnes loves hikes as does the whole family.

I've received my third blog award the other day so I decided to post them all today before I forget. The first two awards are from the very lovely blogger,  looking glass vintage.

I pass on the award to starr crow, calivintage,  meggstatus, rebecca,  delightfully tacky, cats and dogs, leproust vintage,  night lights, fade to black, and versicle.

With this award you say 7 things about yourself if you accept the award and I pass it on to lemondrop vintage, kimberellie, curious mel, two styles one city, kelley anne, lucy marmalade, off of broadway, the girl from hk ldn & sf, thrift candy, and make cupcakes not war

My  third award is from the wonderful Chloe of  make cupcakes not war.
I pass on the award to thrift eye, she got a ticket 2 ride,  orphaned apparel,  the girl under the stairs, looking glass vintage, simply hope,  tyler january,  the way i do,  song of the exile,  q' s day dream, strawberry koi, liebemarlene.
That was quite a long list but  I love passing on some blog love to these deserving bloggers. If you want to accept the nomination just pass keep passing it on like I did and please let me know if you do it!
The seven things about myself  that you may not know are
1. I lived in Germany for a year as an au pair when I was 18. I love traveling and different cultures.
2. I was a hair stylist for 5 years and have had pretty much every color and style imaginable
3. I love my dog Agnes, so much that I can't even think of eating meat or even dairy because of the cruelty involved in the meat and dairy industry.  I also have way fewer health problems and a lot more energy as a result.
 4. I think it is obvious that I love vintage and thrifting but you may not know that last year I took a pledge to not buy clothes that may have been made in a sweat shop. It hasn't been easy, but  I feel better knowing I am not supporting such a cruel form of modern day slavery. I started this blog just to show people that it is possible to be fashionable and more ethical. I also just adore clothing. Dressing up is so fun!
5. I love music and watching music videos. Pitchfork is an online magazine that has an amazing selection of artistic videos.
6. I love my life. I  have an awesome family and I am in school studying what I enjoy. I aim to learn something new everyday. Living in beautiful California is an added bonus.
7.  I drink green tea every morning. I save the coffee for when I really need it.
Before I forget here is the apple gallette recipe that was requested a few posts ago. Have a wonderful weekend!
